Our firm is seeking to hire an experienced family law paralegal. Ideally, applicants should have a degree or paralegal certificate and a minimum 5 years of recent Family Law experience. We are looking for a self-motivated individual who possesses excellent writing, organizational, and communication skills. The paralegal will be responsible for assisting attorneys in all aspects of family law cases including dissolution of marriage, paternity cases, requests for domestic violence restraining orders, requests for orders, ex parte requests, responses, declarations, trial briefs, motions, discovery, and other related pleadings. The salary offered is a minimum of $35.00 per hour and will be commensurate with the applicant’s experience. Benefits include 401K, profit sharing, Medical and Dental Insurance as well as paid vacation time.
Our office is in Long Beach, near the 710 freeway off Ocean Blvd.
Responsibilities
The paralegal’s general responsibilities will consist of all aspects of Family Law operations, including but not limited to drafting and responding to discovery requests and interrogatories; preparation of filings and pleadings; handling correspondence and emails; organizing of exhibits, evidence, and litigation files in general; brief and managing the calendar along with other clerical duties. Applicants should have a strong working knowledge of Outlook and Abacus and be proficient in e-filing.
Qualifications
The paralegal should have a paralegal certificate or degree, in addition to a vast understanding how daily law operations work, including billing, e-filing, preparing memos, dictation, calendaring, monitoring of cases, case organization, client interaction, correspondence, pleadings, petitions, and discovery with minimal supervision. We are looking for applicants who work well in fast-paced environments and who characterize themselves as professional with a positive attitude.
